Sadly in today's society, it seems acceptable not to pay rent.
We at surerent see deliberate non-payment of rent as 'Accommodation theft' and we don't find it acceptable. Therefore, we have begun a campaign whereby without actually naming tenants we can 'Shame' them by allowing our landlords to list their properties that are in rent arrears. Because landlords are simply registering an address of a property that they own or manage and no person's details are mentioned, the register cannot be deemed as breaking the stupid Data Protection laws.
In our present upside down society everyone thinks about the criminal's rights. Well, what about the rights of landlords and decent, honest tenants who pay their rent but also suffer because of the 'Rent Dodgers'?
THERE IS NO LEGAL JUSTIFICATION FOR WITHHOLDING RENT, despite the ramblings of charity personnel in their ivory towers. Tenants and landlords have entered into a legally binding contract and that contract states that rent is payable.
We hope that our directory will improve the situation for decent tenants and landlords and if it prevents dishonest tenants from spending what is quite often taxpayers money paid as benefit then that has to be a positve step forward. Dishonest tenants deserve to end up on the street or in hovels allowing the decent tenants to have the decent homes.
